Emerging Technology Forum
The iPhone: Hype or Happening?
Who'll make it big with Apps and Ads?
September 18, 2008 | 6:00-9:00 PM | 950 Page Mill Road | Palo Alto
Event Sponsor: Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati
Mobile apps have long been touted as the next new, new thing. While Scandinavians, Koreans and the Japanese embraced them, U.S. consumers and businesses waited and waited… only to be disappointed. WAP was too slow, screens were too small and carriers slowed availability.
Is the world of mobile apps finally exploding? Look at Google’s Android and Kleiner Perkins’ iFund. Apple sold $30M in iPhone apps in the first month. Will Apple keep changing the game or will established players clobber its momentum?
Who will win with mobile apps? What business models work? Will subscriptions, adverts or affiliates create the best margins? What will it take to bring the mobile web to the masses? Who else will enter the distribution game?
Come to the VC Taskforce Emerging Technology Forum to hear an industry panel of experts in mobile applications and mobile advertising shed light on the opportunities to make money in this emerging market.
