| VC Task Force Special Event |
February 19, 2004 |
Silicon Valley Bank, Hitachi Limited, Guidant Corporation, IBM, Agilent Ventures and VC Task Force Proudly Present:
How Do Corporate VC's Market Themselves Inside Their Corporations? —————————————————————————————————————————
Corporate Venture Capitalists typically have two roles to play. They must make their investments work, like all other VC's. In addition, they must wear their corporate hat and answer the question, "why do startups need corporate VCs"?
The answer often comes in one of several forms of strategic relationships (or the potential relationship) between invested startups and corporations that invest in them. To be effective, a corporate VC office must constantly work on internal communication channels and market their service to their corporate R&D organization as well as operating business units.
How to build and maintain internal support for a corporate VC office is the topic we will explore, when a panel of experienced corporate VC professionals share their experiences and perspectives in this challenge. Whether you are a corporate VC trying to compare notes, or a "regular" VC trying to understand the dynamics of your colleagues across the aisle, or an entrepreneur trying to understand how to work with corporate partners, do come and participate in this interactive panel discussion!
MODERATOR: Tony Huang, Director, Silicon Valley Bank's International Venture Capital Group
PANELISTS: David Ai , Vice President, Corporate VC Group, Hitachi Limited Sami Hamade, VP of Business Development and Compass Group, Guidant Corporation Claudia Fan Munce, Director, Emerging Markets and Technology, Venture Capital Group, IBM Anne Myong, Investment Manager, Agilent Ventures
